Cameras for Video Conferencing

The camera is an indispensable component for a successful video conference. Whether placed as the primary image source above or below the monitor, or as an additional camera to capture other angles or additional rooms, there is a suitable device for every video conferencing system and room size.

Depending on the application and room size, the cameras differ in their design and function. While for smaller meeting rooms one tends to use so-called "all-in-one solutions" or USB cameras, in which all hardware and software components are often integrated in a single unit, for larger conference rooms one uses higher-quality cameras with tilt, pan and zoom (PTZ) options. Installed in the right place, these can cover the entire room. In professional video conferencing systems, the PTZ cameras can be conveniently controlled remotely with a remote control or touch display. AI-powered cameras even offer intelligent features such as advanced face recognition, noise cancellation, voice commands and people counting.

The features of a camera, such as zoom and angle of view, vary from device to device: everything from 4x zoom to 12x zoom and even 20x zoom is available. The angle of the field of view varies between 90° and 180° and should be selected accordingly depending on the room size and the distance of the participants to the camera.

„A major advantage of the e-learning platform is that our students gain very simple and immediate access to the recordings.“
