These dial-in and connection options are possible:
You have received all the information, which is necessary for a successful participation, in your invitation via calendar invite or email. For a successful dial-in, you will need the dial-in information, relevant for your device: Click to Join URL for using a browser, a URI and/or the CallID. In a conference, you have the possibility to safely confer with a very high sound and video quality and to share PC content between different types of devices and software.
1Dial-in with a video conferencing room system (Cisco, Lifesize, StarLeaf, Polycom, Avaya etc.)
2Dial-in with a software client (Cisco Jabber, Lifesize Cloud, StarLeaf-Client, etc.)
3Dial-in with Skype, Lync, Skype4Business
4Participate via browser (click-to-join)
5Mobile participation via smartphone
6Dial in as an audio participant with a phone (voice-only)
1. Dial-in with a video conferencing room system
Modern video conferencing room systems from Cisco, Lifesize, Starleaf, Polycom, Avaya etc. support the dial-in via URI (or "e-dial") and provide the best conference quality:
Enter the dial-in number of your invitation incl. "@uc.de" via remote control. Enter an optional PIN via DTMF tones and the # key. You will then be connected directly to your conference. For recurring usage, we recommend to deposit an entry in the local directory!
Older video conferencing systems possibly only support the dial-in via IP or ISDN:
IP dial in: Enter the IP address 195.167.221.27 (formerly 178.15.130.109) via remote control and initiate the connection. After a short time, you will be asked by the native IVR system to enter the CallID via DTMF tones and to confirm the ID with the "#" key. Enter an optional PIN via DTMF tones and the # key. You will find information on how to use DTMF tones in our support section amongst the manuals.
ISDN dial in: dial the number 040 209 494 001 with your conferencing system. It may take up to a minute to achieve a connection. Afterwards, you will be asked by the native IVR system to enter the CallID via DTMF tones and to confirm the ID with the "#" key. Please be aware, that due to technical limitations, we can only offer one central German telephone number for the ISDN dial in (H.320).
2. Dial-in with a software client
To join with a professional video conferencing software enter the dial-in number of your invitation including "@uc.de" in your application.
You will receive instructions on configuring your software, required firewall clearances and possible expansion of your solution directly from our service team.
3. Dial-in with Skype, Lync, Skype for Business
Lync or Skype for Business (Mac, PC, Tablets): Enter the dial-in number of your invitation incl. "@uc.de" in the search for participants and press the "videocall button" (Button with the camera symbol)
If you are using your own Skype for Business (Lync) infrastructure, please make sure that the domain "@uc.de" has been enabled within the federation settings.
Users of Office365 please make sure that in Skype for Business Admin Center > Organisation > External Communication > Blocked or Approved Domains the "uc.de" domain has been placed and approved.
4. Participate via Browser (click-to-join - per WebRTC)
Modern browsers support the WebRTC standard which allows a direct video connection from the browser to a video environment without additional software. We recommend the Chrome browser for optimal performance and quality. For sharing PC/Mac content via the browser, a plugin is necessary:
WebRTC Screen Sharing (Google Play Store)
If Chrome is your default browser, it will automatically connect you to the conference room by clicking on the invitation URL. Otherwise, copy the link onto the clipboard and paste it directly into the URL line. Shortly after the connection is established, a window opens where you are asked to allow access to your webcam and microphone. Please consent.
When using Firefox in an older version:
Older versions do not support WebRTC or have very limited support. Our infrastructure will recognize your browser and offer an alternative dial-in method and point you to the download of a software client.
When using Internet Explorer:
Unfortunately, Microsoft browser products do not support the WebRTC protocol. Our infrastructure will recognize your browser and offer an alternative dial-in method and point you to the download of the software client.
5. Mobile participation via smartphone
Open the link on your smartphone. High performance Android phones support WebRTC directly in the browser, for Apple iOS devices there is a corresponding app available in the App Store. The mobile app is recommended at this point also to all who want to redirect a call at a later time to another system. For more information on this feature, please refer to the user guide.
6. Dial in as an audio participant with a phone:
Please call +49-40 209 494 001 (or other regional dial in number of your choice, as long as it is listed in the invitation). Our IVR system will answer your call and will ask you to enter the Call ID. Please enter the Call ID and confirm it by pressing the #-Button.
Using software clients:
Using a proxy server may affect the connection quality of our service. Our infrastructure will try NAT and firewall configurations to identify and enable the connection by using the technologies STUN, TURN, and ICE. A firewall list and the declaration of exact communication relationships can be obtained from our service team.
Using video conferencing systems:
A video conferencing system must be capable of reaching addresses in the internet by using H320/H323/SIP. If you do not have required traversal-systems (VCSe, SBC, VBP, Pathfinder etc.) or a functioning firewall configuration, our support team can assist you.
Confidentiality and Security:
Our servers and devices communicate with your devices using encryption. The audio and video data is encrypted by AES with a minimum of 128bit. We use certificates of public CAs. To communicate with your devices only IP addresses from the following fields are used:
Privacy:
Our service is exclusively provided in Germany taking into account the European and German privacy regulations. All servers, data centers and terminals for the service or its support are located in Germany. For questions regarding our standards, our external data protection officer will be at your disposal.
