BYOM – Meeting from your own laptop

In a BYOM environment, your laptop acts as the hub of the meeting. You start the meeting in Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, or any other platform of your choice, and your device automatically connects to the room’s AV equipment. Thanks to USB bridging and device-agnostic connectivity, you control the entire room from your own device. This eliminates the need for a dedicated room system tied to a single platform and offers maximum flexibility for hybrid working.

BYOD – Using your own device in the meeting room

In a BYOD environment, employees use their own laptop, tablet, or smartphone in the meeting room, for example, to share content, collaborate, or join a meeting. It goes beyond simple presenting: BYOD is about the flexible integration of personal devices within the existing AV environment.

A BYOD space must therefore feature the correct connections, secure network access, and intuitive controls, ensuring that any device—whether wired or wireless—can be used without issue. This makes it simple to start quickly, regardless of the operating system or device type.

BYOM is a specific form of BYOD where the entire meeting is hosted from your own laptop, including the use of the room’s cameras, microphones, and displays.
