Google has expanded its interoperability capabilities by enabling Direct Guest Join on Microsoft Teams Rooms for Windows, allowing Google Meet users to join Microsoft Teams meetings from their Google Meet hardware. This gives Google Meet users access to a much wider range of professional meeting rooms already equipped with Teams Rooms technology.
A More Flexible Meeting Experience
Google Meet sessions can now be launched directly from Teams Rooms on Windows without requiring a laptop or BYOD setup. At the same time, Google Meet hardware can join Microsoft Teams meetings, enabling both platforms to connect more easily when organizations or partners use different meeting solutions.
Bidirectional Interoperability
The update supports two‑way joining:
Platform Availability
Direct Guest Join for Google Meet is currently supported on Teams Rooms on Windows. Because the feature relies on Chrome‑based rendering, it is not yet available on Android‑based Teams Rooms systems, including Poly Android kits.
Google has confirmed that Android support is planned for the second half of 2026.
Expanding Cross‑Platform Options
With Google Meet now added to the lineup, Teams Rooms on Windows gain another major platform they can join natively — in addition to Zoom and Webex — helping organizations support a broader range of meeting workflows with minimal effort
